The Gym Newbie…
The Newbie….
So this seems to be the new trend as a fitness professional to take photos, videos or just go onto FB or twitter and humiliate the “newbie” in the gym that has shit form or in general hasn’t a breeze what he/she is doing at all.
Wouldn’t it be great if these “EXPERTS” took 5mins out of there time to give a few pointers and even swapped email addresses and send them on a basic program to get started.(Take them the whole of 5 minutes)
But Noooo that’s not cool what seems to be cool is the above humiliating them on social media all but forgetting they were once that newbie who needed all the tips, tricks and a program design, nutrition help etc.
I remember my first ever visit to a gym with a friend of mine who had been going quite a bit..
I went down with him quite nervous as commercial gyms can be quit daunting for people and tried DB bench pressing I think was 12.5kg with him spotting at least 10kg on each arm!!
Was a disaster but noticing I hadn’t a breeze the biggest guy in the gym came over and took me to his bench and took smaller dumbbells and showed me what to do exactly and not to be trying to play catch up or match my friends weights as it will do 1 thing cause an injury, he also went through a brief program demonstrating all the exercises.
Now if we had more people like this guy wouldn’t commercial gyms be a better place for newbies to start off, I myself don’t train in commercial gyms and rarely see this stuff happening but if anybody reading this is a gym newbie and is struggling with nutrition or program design hit me up with an email and I can steer you in the right direction.
Next time think who you are trying to impress and instead try helping someone who will never forget the helping hand and hopefully wont give up and continue on the quest for there goals.
