Are The Scales Ruining Your Progress??
Is the Scales Ruining Your Progress??
So I have never trained a professional athlete or a client in general that needed to make a specific weight.
Yet………..
Every client I meet has similar goals;
I want to be toned and have abs or add muscle and get abs…..and be X weight!
Now the weight here has zero got to do with their goals. As the goals they have listed are aesthetic so they are measured through tape measures and bodyfat calipers.
Yet every weigh in they are more excited for a drop in weight!
I have a scales in my gym for 2 reasons;
1; To make sure clients don’t drop weight too quickly.
2; To make sure there weight doesn’t shoot up.
It also lets me assess if they are actually sticking to there plan as in general I know what a client should be gaining or dropping with the plan I prescribe to them.
I have spoken to clients and they have told me how devastated they are from a weigh in when weight was only down 1.5lbs in 2 weeks!
That’s an amazing result in my eyes and that’s pure bodyfat.
I know this because inches were down and that’s my goal as the coach to deliver the end result which is the smaller waist , tighter tummy, abs and more muscle.
So guys next time you think your not doing great f**k the scales it’s a form of mental torture!
I know this personally because I just finished a comp prep where I had to weigh myself every week. I had to make a specific weight guess what……Every week I was heavier it wrecked my head. So I know how you feel on the other hand the mirror selfies didn’t lie I got in the best shape of my life but the scales told me different!!
Guess what didn’t lie…….
- The tape measure,
- The bodyfat calipers,
- The pictures.
If you are weighing in and on a good balanced plan with good training and decent calories none of this starving yourself or shake or pill diets!
My guideline for “weight loss” on a scales is 1-1.5lbs per week no more no less.
Things you should prioritize in your journey to a Healthier, Fitter, More Confident, Happier You;
- How you feel about yourself,
- Your Moods,
- Clothes fitting better,
- Enjoying the process,
- Training becoming easier & Enjoyable,
- Healthy eating now becoming a part of your life and not a daily dread.
